We Shall Build Our Country

We are the victims of vicious, brutal aggression,
Massacres, bloodbaths, murder, transgression:
Our blood is shed, running in steams,
And to ashes are turned our sweet dreams.
We offered for our cause our first-born,
Yet our aspirations were shattered, torn!
The savage hordes deprived us of light,
And stole our land, fruits and eye-sight;
They filled our day and night with sorrow,
And burned our hopes of tomorrow:
They usurped our rights, land and home,
And left us wondering lonely in the gloom.
Yet, like the phoenix, we shall rise alive,
And to build our free country we will strive!
