The Refugees Shall Return |

Samih Al-Qassem The narratives of my death themselves As I cancelled departure, returning with pride From the orbits of blood, blazing in the night, With eyes shedding tears at the sight Of my loved ones, who were fast asleep; So, I let their rest be sweet and deep, Because I knew that pain and sorrow And agony shall befall them tomorrow! And yet, when pain and grief deplete My eyes of tears, with roses I shall meet The return of my loved ones, who roam The world, but their hearts remain at home: They shall come from the stormy seas, To end exile in the world of refugees! |
