 Tawfiq Zaiyyad From the intensity of love I shall perish, Because in sorrow and anguish I cherish My benighted, beloved By the enemies who had it crucified! From my great love Jasmine blooms, And tortured Palestine always looms Large and luminous in my mind ; And, in my dreams I always find The glowing face of my occupied land, And I ask if anyone may understand How intensive love can sometimes kill! It is such love that strengthens my will To struggle relentlessly till I redeem My beloved country, to realize my dream! |
